What is (R.T.C.) Residential Treatment Center or Inpatient Drug Program?

A residential treatment center (RTC), sometimes called an inpatient drug treatment center, is a live-in health care facility providing therapy for substance abuse, mental illness, and other behavioral problems. A residential drug and alcohol treatment program is considered the most advanced approach to treating drug and alcohol addiction. A residential drug and alcohol treatment center provides all of the amenities that a hospital would for an inpatient stay. Residential drug treatment or inpatient treatment programs can last anywhere between 30-90 days. They are typically are followed by lower tiers of treatment care.
What do they provide you with while in a residential drug and alcohol treatment program?
In mostly all cases the typical client undergoing inpatient or residential drug & alcohol treatment has their meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided, The meals a client provided in an inpatient drug treatment setting typically are planned out based on the nutrients provided and the specifications set by the client. In most cases there are many things you can't bring into a residential drug & alcohol treatment center or inpatient setting. You can read more about that on this page. Some inpatient treatment settings allow you to smoke and some don't. It's up to the discretion of the program a person is being admitted, to allow smoking. As of 2016 most public hospitals providing detox services or drug & alcohol treatment services do not allow it, unless they are privately owned.
